VOLUNTEER WITH AARP TAX AIDE
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
AARP Tax-Aide depends on dedicated volunteers to provide free tax preparation services to our community. Without volunteers, this valuable program couldn’t exist. Why not consider joining us this coming tax season?
Good with details and the fine print? Become a Tax Counselor.
Work directly with taxpayers to prepare their returns and help them achieve the best possible outcome. No previous tax preparation experience is required. We provide all the training and materials needed to achieve IRS certification at the Advanced level.
Are you a people person? Become a Client Facilitator or Scheduler.
Client Facilitators welcome taxpayers, help organize their paperwork, and manage the flow of service at the site. Schedulers help clients make real-time appointments. These positions do not require tax law knowledge, but we provide certification and training in Standards of Conduct and client intake procedures.

Training begins in December for Client Facilitators and January for Tax Counselors. We provide all required training and materials for each volunteer role. We ask for a minimum commitment of one four-hour shift per week at one of our eight Madison County sites. Volunteers who would like to work additional days or at multiple sites are always welcome.

Our annual New Volunteer Meet & Greet events are a great way to learn more before tax season begins. Choose either Monday, November 9, or Thursday, November 12, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Studio 60 Senior Center, Merrimack Room.
Meet our leadership team, learn how the Tax-Aide program works, ask questions, and discover which volunteer role might be right for you. You may even make some new friends along the way!
There is a special satisfaction in using your time and talents to help neighbors who truly appreciate the service we provide.

Driver Safety
The AARP Driver Safety Program teaches proven driving techniques to help keep everyone safe on the roads. Topics discussed include driving while on medication, reducing driver distractions, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, proper use of safety belts, airbags, and anti-lock brakes, and techniques for left-hand turns, roundabouts, and the rules of right-of-way. Insurance discounts are often awarded for completing the course.
