AARP partners with STUDIO 60 to provide a location for two of their major programs, Tax-Aide tax preparation, and their Driver Safety Class.
Tax-Aide Volunteers - CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!
AARP Tax Aide will be holding an informal Meet & Greet for all interested NEW volunteers. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the program and talk to our District leadership to find out if this volunteer opportunity is a good fit for you. We are looking for tax preparers, front desk greeters and appointment schedulers. You do not need to join AARP to volunteer. We provide ALL necessary training and equipment.
If you’re considering becoming a volunteer with Tax Aide, we are offering two sessions for you to choose from. It is highly recommended that you come to one of them for introductory purposes and Q&A. You will receive pertinent information to give you a jump start in our program.
Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 9 am OR Friday, November 22, 2024 at 9 am
STUDIO 60 Senior Center, 2200 Drake Avenue, Huntsville, AL in the Merrimac Room
This meeting is very informal, but try to be there promptly at 9 am so you won’t miss the introductions which is a very important part of our initial process. Computers will be available for your use. We want to answer any questions you may have about the program and help you access the various sites you will need for training and certification. Current volunteers are welcome to attend as well as a refresher. We will serve coffee/tea and a light refreshment.
Email Diana Klaube (ladydi0505@live.com) if you have any questions.
Driver Safety
The AARP Driver Safety Program teaches proven driving techniques to help keep everyone safe on the roads. Topics discussed include: driving while on medication; reducing driver distractions; maintaining safe distance between vehicles; proper use of safety belts, airbags, and anti-lock brakes; and techniques for left hand turns, roundabouts, and the rules of right of way. Insurance discounts are often awarded for completion of the course.
